Τasting Characteristics

Nose with sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla. The full and smooth mouth combines buttery sweetness with cinnamon spiciness. The finish is long lasting and warming.

The Process

After maturing in American ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, Balvenie is moved in Spanish ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months. It is finally transferred to large oak vessels, called “tuns”, for three or four months, to allow the whiskies from individual casks to “marry”. The traditional casks soften the distillate, adding a delicate character, while the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavour.

Served

Ideally served with an ice cube or a few drops of water, to enhance its aromas.
